Hay all iam needing to up my filter what i was thinking is a 5x2x2 sump with 4 bays now. Heres the Q would i be able to use the fx5 to pull the water from main tank and return into the sump then in end bay a return pump back to main tank . Sorry if i havent made it clear any help on ways for it to work welcome thanks

Problem I see with this type of setup is if the power goes out, the FX5 will continue to siphon the water out of the tank and you will end up with quite the mess.

i think he want the water from the sump going through the fx5 and back into the tank

I think he wants to use the FX5 to pump water back to the main tank from the sump.

I would just invest in a pump.

I think unless you take it from the sump to start with, you'll run into problems.
Remember, a sump system works by pumping water into the tank, and the overflow dumping back into the sump. If you allow the FX5 to fill into the sump, you disrupt the overflow volume balance.

Yes i would still need a pump to take it out of tank i have no holes drilled this is my problem. So if i use a pump to take it to the sump then the fx5 to return back to tank would that work ?

You need to have an overflow from the tank to drain the overflow of water to the sump, and a return pump to pump water to the tank, that's what is overflowed from the tank...your sump has to be, Gravity fill, power return...
