Does anyone know why my FX5 would be blowing Micro fine bubbles? I have has this problem on and off since I bought the thing and havent been able to figure out the cause. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks guys.

Nope its not a leak. Just a few minutes ago, I kept unplugging it and plugging it back in and each time it would blow a ton of air out like there is a ton left in the canister from the last time I cleaned it out. So I am kinda thinking that those fine bubbles are from an air pocket inside the canister and it is just slowly removing itself. I dont know.

Reconfigure your media trays, don't pack them too tightly with media.

My fx5 does that when its time to clean it, which means that some part of your media is clogged and reducing flow. I start to get them right around the 2 week mark.

Alrighty, then I guess I will try removing some media. I have it set up for mechanical filtration, but still dont have much in there, maybe a third full.

maybe you have put the air tube backwards, I've done that once, i put it upside down... also, check the connectors, a few customers have wasted good money for me to come out and tell them their connectors were not fitted untill they click, 50 dollars later, they quickly realize their problems. if you turn it on prior to it being full, it will have big air pockets traped, thus creating micro-bubbles.

Make sure the water in the canister is full and then give it a quick shake before you turn the filter on.

hth.

When I filled it, I didnt fill it right to the top, maybe 3 inches from the top. I then put the lid on and turned it on just figuring that it would purge the air itself.

The air tube? I am not sure if I know what you are talking about.

This must be a fault in the design because I have exactly the same problem.
The filter runs fine for about 2 weeks then fine air bubbles fill the entire tank, I tried reducing the media to half in each container it improved it by a week, now every 3 weeks I got the same problem. Even with the bare minimum media you are looking at cleaning the filter out every 3 weeks, this may be alright for some but I advise doing what I did get rid of the FX5 and buy an eheim 2260 problem solved I should have gone with Eheim in the first place.
