*FX5/HAGEN CUSTOMERS

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've had my fx5 for about two months now, no problems yet but some of what I've heard has me worried. I've got an old fluval 305, I've had it for a year, plus I bought it used and guy told me it was about two years old. Things a b***h to start up with that little primer stick pump, but once it's going its great.

no, he's a good kid. just funny!

I try! My point was that hagen is the most popular brand, thus they have a lot of customers so it is likely we will see more issues regarding these products, I'm tired of people saying look at how many problems these have, well look at the sheer number of customers, for every 2262 sold there are probably 50 fx5 sold if not more.

Proper setup, maintenance and no fine pads will prevent 90 percent of these complaints. Of course with 600gph flowing thru a tiny 5" piece of polishing pad your going to get micro bubbles!

Owned 5x fx5. Awesome filter. Enough said.

Currently running two FX5's on my display tank and very much enjoy them! Of course I didn't use the factory hoses (hard piped) and I've never owned another canister but I can say that I'm a satisfied customer.:D

Well everyone knows I couldn't let this one pass without chiming in:headbang2.

2 FX5's, have had issues with hoses leaking, hose connectors will not shut off all the way so when I clean the filter that clamp has to stay in the bucket. I flat out feel this this is a poorly designed filter with tons of bypass if you dont use pads then the pads clog. I dont think it pumps remotely close to what they claim. And I'm sure I could go on and on. Still kick myself in the as? for not shipping these things back while I had my chance. Terrible customer service.

2 406's not quite as bad, cheaply made (cheaper then the chinese knockoffs) has had so many problems allot of the internal working (ie impeller, impeller shaft, well, impeller cover and all gaskets, 06 manual pageEN3) have to be changed yearly if you dont want to void warranty. Also has Bypass issues. Does have a good water flow.

2 Fluval G4's the shining star of the group it's a well thought out little filter, some say it's noisy.

I have had terrible experance with there customer service I mean like night and day between them and other filter products I own.

Also I do not think this thread should have included HOB's and Canisters in one thread to me it makes this thread not very valid as if you had seperated them. To me you are using the Aquaclear line to cover up most of the problems with all the Fluval save the C-Series funny how thats also a HOB...I say redo this thread and let the canisters stand on there own if you dare? You can tell I am not a member of the FX5 Uber Filter Club......:WHOA::WHOA:

How do you pull your can for service if you use hard plumbing? Pull the plumbing when you service? Sounds interesting, but I just can't picture it.

Currently running two and had total of four FX5s. Combined run time on the four total to about 10 years. No issues whatsoever except microbubbles when the filter needed cleaning.

Too many AC110s and AC70s to even count. Love them, wont buy anything else. Don't care much for any of the smaller AC HOBs.

Die hard member of the FX5 Ubber owners club :headbang2
