I took the purge valve off my FX5 before i started it ,but now i cant get it back on. Is it just a pain in the ass to get it back on or is there some kind of trick to it? Also do i really need it with the valve right before it?

I never took mine off, but it isn't necessary. It's more cosmetic than anything. After reading your post, I don't care to experiment either!

My Bad im just anxious to get the filter up on my tank so i can put my 3 oscars that are crammed into my 55 into there new 110. Then theyll have a little room to swin since they dont have any in the 55

Its actually the littel rubber nipple on the end of the purge valve. Do your self a favor if you dont have to take it off dont its a real pain in the ass to get back on. So much so i gave up trying to put it back on.
