FX5 keeps making gurgling sound..

if the joint between the intake strainer pipe and the hose isn't below the water line you can get air being sucked in there,and it isn't always noticeable

This is what happened to me, the hoses got stretched and even tho they looked secure they weren't, I put a hose clamp on each side and hand tightened and fixed.

i still havent cleaned it out yet, don't have the user manual but probably can dl it online. the way mine is set up is the hose just goes directly into the tank and the strainer is near the bottom of the tank way under the water surface so i don't think it's sucking up air thru there. i'm not using the elbow, doesn't fit on my tank. there's a extension for the intake that u just submerged underneath the water. i shut off the filter and cleared the air. it's a little quieter now. if it gets loud again i'm just gonna put the whole thing in the bathtub and clean it thoroughly.

You don't have the elbow therefore its likely putting tension on the valves. They do fit you just have to muscle it on as hard as you possibly can, took me awhile but I got it. I guess some rims are huge tho.

no the bracket i got doesn't fit unless you modify the tank, it's acryllic. i know i still gotta clean it but it stopped making the gurgling sound since last night after i messed with the intake hose and put the connecting piece under the water. it's not gurgling no more, but i'd like it to be quieter, i can still hear a little water flowing from it and motor hum but that could also be coming from my power head.
