I was just lookin on ebay and saw an oddysea filter that looks basically like a fx5. I've been looking around for a cheap filter to add to my two emp 400s untill I can save up. Are the oddysea filters any good for the cheap price? Is there a knock off brand that's better then the other.

Thanks for any addvice in advance.
Eric

Considering you can get a FX5 shipped to your door for $225, not sure why anyone would consider a knock off POS.

There have been several bad reviews on the knock offs fx5 from forum members in the past. Mainly the upper lid cracking. Some think it's user error by over-tightening the lids, I personally think it's BS. So what if it is over-tighten? The lid should have been built stronger. The fx5 is strong, durable, and dependable. The cost to repair your wooden floors/carpet is not worth the savings.

Here's an extensive review of the sunsun filter, which I think received more positives than the fx5 knock offs:

Well I know you usually get what you pay for. But for that cheap I thought it may be worth it to just add to my emps for a bit more mechanical filtration and water movement. I'm trying to stay on a budget so I can get a large aquarium and then id probly just turn my 125 into a sump.

Thanks for the links ronald. Ill look into the sunsun. I def do not want a filter that may crack and leak on the floor. And they look like they will still fit my budget.

Well we are not all name brand pimps I wouldn't get that odessa just because of how the media or lack there of works. However if I had smaller tank I might joing the sunsun pimp club and get an HW-304 or two, I have read so many good reviews of those, even from reefers so their usage is a little bit more abusive.

the sun sun get good reviews as mentioned. theres a vendor on the forum who sells them just check vendor section,. I personaly own one the jebao ehiem pro II knockoffs and two ehiem pro II. Built almost identicle. Flows the same if not more. Love it just as much as my ehiems. great filter. Been running since december never had a issue.
