My FX5 started leaking last night after I cleaned it. When I clean it I remove the motor to get any sand out of the motor. After putting it back together it started dripping about a drop every few seconds. I took it apart about 5 or 6 more times, inspecting everything and it all looked good. The gasket is not nicked, cut or out of shape. I went ahead and ordered a new gasket to try, it will be here tomorrow. Any other ideas of what it could be?

The water is dripping off of the orange motor housing on the bottom side of the motor.

I really think it is the gasket. They get set in a certain position and then when they are disturbed they can leak.

Try liberally gooping on some 100% silicone grease on the gasket. The grease can be pound in the water filter section at Home Depot

No need to do the silicone because you ordered a new gasket.

This is a good practice to be doing anyway. I do this to all my canisters. If this resolves his issue, he will have a replacement gasket in the future.

This also proplongs the life of the gasket/o-ring

Sweet! That's a ton cheaper than the stuff I buy at HD. I'll be ordering some of that stuff you linked

Yea I went back and looked at the order, I purchased it with a bunch of aquarium supplies so it was definitely for that use.
