Nice! lol , I am not too worried about a spike I got a ac 110 and an eheim 2215 packed with substrate pro and the goodies. And an under gravel all well seeded. It is possible though it could spread the BB out a little bit ill be careful thanks for the heads up. :)

here we go for over filtration ,, i am sure its drinkable now lol,,

I saw the prices going up on the Fluval FX5 and quickly struck a deal and got one as I am doing a monster tank setup soon. Im thinking though while I have this thing should I hook it up to my 55 ? The 55 already has an eheim 2215 ,aquaclear 110 and an under gravel filter and a top fin 60 HOB. I think it being on the 55 might seed it a little bit but the tank is so clean as it is. What would you guys do ?

and you thought I was crazy running an XP3 on a 37G....

Shall I link the thread?!? :naughty:

If you find the FX5 too much flow turn the intake side down, don't screw with the output side leave it wide open or you might find yourself with a puddle...

I made a DIY intake and spraybar out of 1" PVC for a 75G tank, I had drilled several 1/8" holes in the spraybar which reduced the flow substantially but it still pushed so hard that the fish were flying all over the place. I drilled thru the PVC with 3/16" bit so now i have flow up and flow pushing back against the glass and down, flow is still strong but the fish love it.

For a 55 I would use one of them 3way furniture fitting elbows and make a custom spray bar 15" along the back and 10" across the side... side 10" bar i would drill 3/16" holes to push the water across the surface and the 15" back bar i would drill down and slightly angled towards the rear glass, use a threaded connector on the back bar to make adjustments but you should be fine with the smaller bar pushing water across the surface.

Savko would have all the fittings you need, including a strainer if you decide to make a custom intake too...
