Hey guys, I can get a Fluval FX5 for the same price as the Ehiem Pro 2 2026.
I am just looking for a quick answer if the FX5 on a 55 gallon would be too much?

Thanks for your reply.

I don't think theres a such thing as too much filtration. I plan on getting an FX5 when I can muster up the funds for my 55 and even then i'll probably still leave the HOB's on there.

I have a fx5 on my 55.

You will not be disappointed with the FX5 once you have that bad boy running. I have my running for nearly two weeks now and could not be happier...another very satisfied FX5 filter owner :).

I made this exact same thread about two weeks ago. I chose not too in the end since my 55 already had an ac 110 a top fin 60 an under gravel filter and an eheim 2215. The FX5 is gonna go with an eheim 2262 and a sump on my monster once I get the prep work done. But for now it will safely sit in its box.

If you can afford it and you don't already have decent filtration go for it while there is still a few for 200 out there. Thats why I got mine the price was going up.

Thanks for the replies guys. Good to know it's a reliable filter.

I just bought 1 for my 55 gallon (I already have about 3 30-60's but I like how the canister is hidden, and I plan on getting a 300 gallon eventually, so I will switch the FX-5 to the 300 and get a wet/dry for that as well once I get it.

I'm currently negotiating to get 2 FX5's (since they're $160 US, and at my LFS They're $410 CDN + Tax)
