I am thinking about running 2 fx5's on a glass cage 300 tall. It has the 2 or so inch bracing around the top. Anyone have or seen a fx5 clamped onto that?

I haven't, but you could easily rig something up to hold it in place.

Have you thought about getting some magnetic clamps. Something like the kind they sell for heaters but bigger.

My tank has 1.25" bracing, and it's a very tight fit with the FX5 clamps. When I originally set my FX5 up, one clamp barely fit, and the 2nd snapped in half while trying to get it over the bracing. I contacted fluval and they were nice enough to ship a new clamp out for free, and again it was very close to breaking but barely fit.

So 1.5" is the absolute max on the fluval clamps. I didnt think the fluval ones would work on a euro braced tank...that is more like 3". I know the hose is flexible...didn't now if someone had a way to clamp that in place. I would guess I could use some sort of PVC U type setup...I was just wanting to see if anyone had already made one that was working well and not restricting the flow.

I would say 1.25" is the absolute max. As I said, one of mine broke, and the rest were close. You could try using a couple nice big suction cups that attach the intake and outlet to the glass.

I guess my biggest concern is the intake...the routing of it over the brace and into the tank and having it up aginst the back glass in the tank. I was thinking maybe a 90 to a 90 to go up over and into the tank...then a 45 to go towards the back glass and another 45 to go down the back glass...follow? What size is the fluval hose and the plastic intake tube? Anyone attached that to PVC elbows?
