FX5 on euro braced tanks...anyone have that?

hi i have the same problem with one of my tanks , i just put the U clamps over the top of the tank and because of the witdh of the U clamps the pipes go stright in the water and just miss the braces . if you get me . so they are not actully clamped on they are just resting of the 1" lip of the tank .

I guess my biggest concern is the intake...the routing of it over the brace and into the tank and having it up aginst the back glass in the tank. I was thinking maybe a 90 to a 90 to go up over and into the tank...then a 45 to go towards the back glass and another 45 to go down the back glass...follow? What size is the fluval hose and the plastic intake tube? Anyone attached that to PVC elbows?
The FX5 hose is 1", but it is ribbed hosing which my not form a tight seal when attached to PVC (I've never tried). You could just hard plumb the whole thing, or you could purchase your own 1" tubing that can be easily clamped to PVC.

You could probably use a series 1" 90 degree bends to go around around and under the bracing. Use a PVC 90 as the output. You can get a barbed fitting to fit in a 90 fort the intake so you can hook up the original intake.

My only fear with the barbed hose fitting is does it reduce...is it going to restrict the original flow? I kinda think those barbed fitting are not true sizes but i have never checked. I was thinking if i had to use one id try and squeeze a bigger one like a 1.25" or something...
