FX5 or 2250 or?

i had a beautiful 150 gal plant tank with a assortment of tetras and i ran two fluval 403 canister filters and two surface skimmers on the intakes. no problems with water parameter and i could have probably ran just one filter successfully. i would invest your money on something other than filtration maybe some more discus
 
The Eheim 2250 has so much more biomedia capacity than the FX5. Since flow rate isn't important to you, there's no question that it's a much better filter for your purpose.

I think the 2250 is selling for about the same price as the FX5 these days. You can find them for around $210. The annoying thing is that you will probably want to spend a little extra to get the host quick connects because I don't think they're included.
