FX5 or Eheim 2075

So I am setting up my 180 and want to assist my sump with a canister filter and need to choose which one I want. My only experience is with Fluval so far and have no complaints, but I also hear nothing but praise for Eheim.

So cheaper is always better and I am skeptical about ebay, I just perfer to buy from someone I can trust no matter what and to see it before purchase. So that being said I love my LFS and they have the following prices for each filter.

FX5 ($304)

2075 ($243)

Now which would you prefer and why? I know the FX5 moves more water and such, but would it really be worth the extra $60? I am a college student so money is kind of tight. I will probably just save up over the course of a month or two depending on how much I can work.

Well i don't have any experience with eheim filters, but i did just buy a fx5 on ebay 2 weeks ago. So far it is amazing. I would easily buy another one no problem. I would also consider ebay if i were you. I too was skeptical about buying on there,but with paypal it's a breeze. I got mine for 229 shipped. Just a thought. Good luck!

I have a 2075, and it's definitely not enough for a 180 gallon tank. It compliments my sunsun 304 on my 75 gallon tank.

I got mine (FX5) from this seller a few months ago and it's been working perfectly. Mine was $225 shipped (called for a buy it now price) I saw some go for $200 shipped, but I would call her and offer $210 and see what she says:

FX5. If money is tight - go Ebay. Find a seller with a good rating. There are several that sell lots of them. That's where I got mine. $230 shipped WITH media.

fx5 is worth it I paid at a store like 300 cad, its totally worth it fluval support rocks, filter is very good no complaints- at all.

i'm in the same boat my friend. one more year and i'm done with school for good. boo ya haha. i went with the fx5 for my 240 and it has been astonishing. best filter i have ever owned. i found mine on ebay for around 220 shipped. as stated before it's safe if you use paypal.
