one last thing.

only complaint about the fx5 is my damn return/output novel falls off three times a day. i've seen a number of adaptations with pvc pipe that i think make the filter preform even better. gonna give one a shot before long here.

I paid 200+ shipping on eBay for my FX5 and so far it rocks.
My tank is only 100G but the water movement is strong and also is crystal clear.
It is also pretty quiet even when it clears air (burps) every 24 hours.

eheim. although, i would recommend the eheim 2250 or 2260. if the pump dies on the thing, you can replace it for 100-125 on sale. will have to replace the hoses over the years too can be done from pet wesbites elling eheim tubing. and eheimparts.com always has replacement parts for the filter. if eheim ever goes under, i'll buy lots of replacemnts parts for the filter.

in theory, it should last a lifetime or more. how's that for an investment? up front cost is high, but long term it's very low.
