Oh sorry iPhone has spellcheck but I meant those hangover filters they take too much room in the tank and my aro keeps attacking them knocking them to the bottom...

Also these filters will not reduce your need for water changes. It wont make a difference whatsoever as filters do not destroy nitrates, only water changes and pothos. Having said that I recommend picking up a pothos plant from home depot for 5$ it will do 5x better job than any filter.

So u think a 1400gph filter with a 36w uv bulb will not make my tank crystal clear? And this plant your talking about do u need to add any type of plant food to the tank because I don't feel comfortable adding stuff that will affect my water and stress the fish?

Sorry, I know I chimed in once already. You know probably ither filter will do the job. I think in the end its all about maintainence. Follow the set service schdule be easy when handling during cleanings and change out parts when suggested. I don't think any company today markets a product with the idea of it breaking down for that company will not survive long in todays world.

Pothos needs very little light. Actually you can grow it in a garage with no windows or light of any kind and it will flourish and stay green. Since the plant is growing with its roots in water you do not water the plant at all. I spoke with my local hydroponics store employees they say these things do such a good job he said "good luck producing enough nitrates for those plants, they will need as much as they can get."

lol......sorry wasn't referring to the plant part of the thread (but dosn't the plant need some TLC every once in a while:D) This was for the Oddyssea vs FX5 question obviously!!! I wake up someday.....

Wow I'll try it out. Can u send a vid of your tank with the plants? And yea I understand that I gotta keep up with the maintenance and just keep up with the WC because that's pretty much the only way to keep the tank healthy and my beautiful fish.

I only have 2 little cuttings I took from my moms pothos on my tanks. It will need to be much bigger before it can really make a difference. The roots are really getting huge but keep in mind the plant has only been on the tank for 2 weeks so. Included is a pic of the mother plant. Yes btw pothos is a vine its also commonly called devils ivy. Do you have any houseplants in you home cuz if you do chances are you have a pothos. Very, very common plant. Also this plant has the potential to grow over 30 feet long and is capable of choking trees and kiling them within 3 years. in a similar fashion to kudzu by basically climbing up a tree and latching onto it and growing over it. It grows rapidly and can be killed if given too much light. No direct sunlight.
