FX5 problem, help please!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ive had good luck with fluvals so far and dont think they are junk. however, if you put too much media in the center trays it will drop the rate waaaaay down. so, i barely keep anything in those center racks and the flow is great.. just some ceramic rings and a little quilt batting..

That's what I do too...only ceramic rings and it runs fine.

It's more important to increase the BB population than to pack it with carbon and filter pads. They aren't as needed as most people think...as long as you're keeping up with water changes.

I've never had a problem with my FX5 not working with media and then working with out media. I had mine stop all together and i had to have Hagen send me a whole new motor/impeller unit but it works like a champ now.

i just cleaned up my fx5 today, and dropped in some ceramic rings. however after i put that thing back 2gether and plug in the power, noticed that there's strange swirling noise. even after the 2 mins "sleep" time, it still does the same thing and no/little water comes out from the outlet pipe.
i was afraid that the pump is having some problem, but after i tried it w/o any media, the filter did fine. pumped out water like normal. therefore, i thought my media tray was miss placed or someting like that, but after i took it apart, checked, then put it back 2gether, it started to do the same thing. :irked:
any1 ever experienced this be4? anything i can do? help plz!!!! :nilly:
o, and i thought the media was too full, blockin the water flow, so i even down sized the media, but still the same thing...wth
i just took my propeller off and cleaned it well in some water. the fx5 is purring now. give that a try as well as the ceramic rings only ;). hope it works for you like it did for me.:)
