LOL no mater how you measure the hose that comes with the FX5...Don't get me wrong here because I happen to love this filter...BUT... the real answer is...not enough for most of the applications the canister is designed for. On larger tanks your best option is to plum most of the system in PVC pipe and then use two short pieces of the supplied hose to run from the filter to the plumbing.
4 metres of hose should be enough my other filter i got on my 180 atm is a 2080 and it only had 4.5 m of hose for 2 inlets and one outlet... so with the fx5 im getting an extra 500mm of hose which is good IMO because 1.5 was startin to push it a bit...
I should mention that I always run my canisters in a cross flow...(end to end) configuration and on an 8 foot long tank you run a bit short with the factory suppled hose.
mine was 4m but the rubber seal wasn't machined properly and so dripped for about 3 hours before i noticed it watering my lounge! make sure that the factory seals work properly!
