ok first, if you have an fx5 how do you like it?
and 2 could you use the purge valve as some sort of drip system?

I own 3 of them and wouldn't change anything as for the drip system I don't think that will work it's design to remove water before lifting the pump up to be clean.

thanks man. i like how no one else wants to say anythin.....
it always happens like this.
how much did you pay for yours?

I bought them off of EBay cause the LFS said there where crap and how everyone had problems so like everyone else did research on here and Bam now I own 3. I paid like $230 shipped give or take.

I love my FX5. I've never used the purge valve so I can't comment on it.

I have mine on a 46gal bowfront and it works amazingly.

I got mine with the tank + stand + 10 cichlids for $250 CAD

I love it. I use mine to help change to water in my 90 gallon.I disconnect the return valve then hook up the extra top valve(with a clear hose bought at Home Depot) and turn the filter back on.I put the other end in my clothes washing machine drain.Of course I still use the python to fill up tank and do a gravel vac,but using the FX5 to drain tank is great.

I have two fx5's on my 150 and so far there great. One thing I changed though was the the two way outlets on the outtake hose. I didn't like the low pressure so I went and got a 90 degree elbow to replace it and it pretty much doubled the pressure. Only downfall to that is after awhile they will fall off so I need to use rubber bands to keep them on and every once in awhile I need to replace the rubber bands. Really the only other thing I don't like is when you take the hose off to clean it you need to use a towel because it always spills some water.

i've had mine for about 3 yrs love it not a 1 problem
