FX5 rim connector problem

I am hooking up my first FX5 and the rim connectors aren't wide enough to slide over the trim on my tank. Anyone else had this problem? What did you guys do? Suggestions?

i had to break mine to get it to fit over the rim.

My tank trim is huge but I jammed them on. Try taking the rubber bands off the clips.

I just took the rubber bands off as well haha.

They should just snap right on. What type of trim do you have on your tank?

Yup...a royal pain. I had to remove the o-rings and then I used a Dremel with a grinding stone to remove all of those little fins that are sticking into the space between the two inner surfaces of the clip. Still a mother to get on though.

They should just snap right on. What type of trim do you have on your tank?

Mine snap right on, and with no problem.

I have taken snips and cut out spaces on tanks b4 without any issues. Just be careful.The inside lip part is all you want to cut and it will fit.
