FX5 running strong...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
and you can mod the fx5 like crazy! they are so much better when you do too. 2 fx5 is the way to go

Although the fx5 is powerfull and all, I would much rather get an eheim 2262 over 2 fx5's.

If yuou have the money ofcourse. 2262 has way more media capacity than 2 Fx5s. Although you are at 1200 GPH with 2 Fx5s over 500-700GPH with a 2262. Thats ok though, Ehiems are great at bio filtration.

I am looking to get an Ehiem to replace my Fluval 304 since I recently started having an issue that what cause me to start rebuilding it.

Yup filled to the top.... I did a water change and didn't shut the filter off and that is why i did the video to show people the output power...

There are a total of 12 holes now 6 on the front and 6 directly across thru the back...

There were originally 6--- 1/8" holes but this proved to be too small as the water shot across the tank to the other side... I drilled up to 15/64" and still had strong streams of water shooting across the tank... I was going to make another spray bar so i drilled thru with the 15/64" bit and that really calmed things down to a more acceptable level...
12 holes @ 15/64 is good now i need to redo the spray bar to help push the detritus towards the other side instead of gathering in the middle... I vacuum the detritus every other day so it's not on the "priority list"...

I think it's a great match... for the 40... I was afraid it was going to be too strong... It actually was going to go on a 55 and i wanted to cycle the filter first since the 55 stand was another project.
I wouldn't trade my Eheims for anything..
I would do it again in a heartbeat... infact i am going to pick up another 2217 and just load it with substrat pro when $$ becomes available hooked up to a turbo twist 18W for my EBJD project hopefully to happen by the end of the summer..

I didn't want people to also think i was being baised i own both...
Right on my 2215 is on a 90 now and its a little underpowered for a 90 I know but that 90 has a fluval 404 and a ac110. I think the eheim would be a great filter for a UV because of its slower flow. Plus the bio ability of that little 2215 is absolutely stunning  I am gonna put a 2217 in its place (and take all the cycled substrate pro from it) and move the 2215 back on to my 55 community with an ac110 and put new substrate pro in it :)
