One more post and I have noticed most people steer clear from this kind but this one upset me. So last night my FX5 decides to pop a leak and flood half my living room. When the water is pouring out of the filter and all over the livingroom you do not have allot of time to sit there and troubleshoot where the leak is coming from more or less wanting to hook it back up to take a second look for the girl from the helpdesk. Did you folks know that the three year warranty is only good for the pump and not the rest of the filter according to Hagen Support? They are sending me some parts but if this is the level of support I'm going to get it sure does make me question buying more from them. And the worst part is they seem to care less about the damage to my Aqarium Stand, Carpet, or floor underneath?

what broke or failed?

It was somewhere around the input side. They have agreed to send me a hose, Aquastop Valve. It's just the additude its almost like they have no pride in there product or any remorse for the damage it caused. In my case I worked many years as a support manager and to me if I was the manager of that helpdesk team I'd be doing some serious house cleaning. When I called I worked very hard did not raise my voice and told them the story I mean this is a brand new filter and two of us worked hard to follow there setup instructions to the letter. And then the girl had to look up the instructions on how to set it up. she had no clue. You know I'm not expecting them to build me a new house or anything but a I"M SORRY would have been nice and now the question is do I trust the product? I know so many of you out there have this filter and love them. What do you say folks would you just let it be or try to reach a higher level at Hagen?

So I have had a chance to look a little closer. On the Aquastop valve they attach the hose with a clamp on the inside of this clamp are two very sharp edges that can tear the rubber when tightened on the input and output valves. I hope this is they only problem but won't know until the parts arrive.

Good luck with your filter problem. I can't comment as I don't have the fx5, although I've had several great deals but passed on them.

Are those the hoseclamps that came with the filter?

Bro that's all ur fault, if it failed mechanically they would replace it in a heartbeat, the fact that their even honoring the warranty is imo nice of them.

Don't over tighten, the hole can vibrates 24/7

F1 by no means did I over tighten this. The fact that they provided this clamp with a sharp edge against the rubber has nothing to do with being my fault. I posted this as a warning in case other folks have this issue. The pictures show the inside edge of the clamp is very sharp. The instructions are very plan on how to handle the clamp. I'm sorry I disagree with you. Lets just agree that we disagree and leave it at that please. Everyone else may look at this for what it is and are free to form there own opinion.

It's really isn't his fault if they provide you with a hose clamp with a jagged edge. If you overtighten a regular clamp, it will crack the plastic before it damages the hose.
