Sorry to see this happened here. I got scammed a while back out of a $900 camcorder about 2 weeks before my son was born. Ended up buying another one for the same amount locally and only got back $50 from paypal since I used the cash I had from selling stuff. I NEVER pay without a credit card through paypal now and always withdraw my funds when I have money in there.

Can't remember who but someone suggested a way to track transactions. One of the Mustang forums (www.corral.net) I frequent has a feedback system kinda like on ebay for transactions. Might be something to try here. I don't agree with using peoples post count as a good indicator of who's honest. This guy could have made 500 meaningless posts saying "cool" "nice pics" over the year and it wouldn't have made him any more trustworthy.

Hope all of you get your hard earned money back. I learned with the camcorder that if it's too good to be true it usually is.

Good luck everyone!!

Maybe we should not let members sell until they have 500 posts, or have been active for a year....Just a thought...Sorry to all of you guys.

The talk of violence is not even slightly necessary though :(

I agree all around here, but how does the saying go, caveat emptor?

Look at any website forum, the most traffic will be generated by the classifieds section. This is where everyone goes on the daily basis.

That being the case, if you're restricting the buyer/seller to post count or duration of memberships, it will reduce the amount of traffic to the classifieds section and in the end it will reduce the traffic to the site.

It's a double edge sword. Damn if you do, damn id you don't. We just have to protect ourselves on individual basis

One of the Admins can Find out what IP address he's connecting from, Do a Whois Search on the IP and find out his cable provider.

Then Report it locally as an Internet Crime and let his Provider know what he's done.

I had to do this once. Different Reason Tho.

Hope you Guys Get You money back.

Perhaps members local to the seller can verify that ther seller is legit. I would some day like to sell/buy on this board, but would hate to be left out in the cold just becasue I don't have a high post count or haven't been a member for 7 years.

Agree. And I wouldn't agree with any rule having to make 500 posts before selling.. or even 100 posts before selling. We shouldn't punish all the good people who come here to sell because they have less than x posts. The only thing that needs to be said here, and really what's to blame is..

"If it sounds too good to be true.. Then it probably is.."

yup. cant punish everybody or hold the forums responsible. this is a classic case of "buyer beware". only people to blame are the seller and buyer(s). so long as we have internet, there will be internet scams. its just life
