FX5 too much for a 120 gallon?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not at all on a 5' tank, perfect IMO. I have a single FX5 on my 4' 120 gallon and think it's perfect.

Thanks for the quick replies.
I got a deal on the FX5 for my new setup and have been worried it will be over kill.

The stock that I am moving to this tank will be one green terror and a fire mouth.
I may add one or two more fish as well but I am undecided.

Na. I had a a Fx5 on a 35 for awhile. Hahaha some mine consider that overkill but the fish didnt mind it so it stayed for a few months.

I have a 120g (60x18x26) and use two Cascade 1500's on it. For the price I paid for the two of these I could have got a single FX5. The only problem I had was that my stand would not accommodate an FX5, there was no room. I know that the stock output elbow would create more of a current than I would like so I would make a custom spray bar, or do the PVC elbow mod that some do on them. So personally I would totally want an FX5 on a 120g.

My latest project is a 210g (72x24x29) that is replacing my 120g. On this set up I am going with dual FX5's with custom spray bars to cut down on the current.

1 FX5 isnt to much for your tank.my 125 has 2 FX5's,a AC110 and one fish in the tank.

Nah not overkill lil. I put an emp 400 on my 20l. Fish love current.
