Just got one of these 2 weeks ago, been running fine, BUT THEN,
all day today, every 5 seconds it makes a sound like a straw sucking up the ends of a drink.
I unplugged the filter a few times so that the sequence would start over again but this has not helped?
This is my 1st FX5.
Any Idea why this is????
And can this be remedied????
THANX.

I have 2 FX5 filters and had the same problem at first but know how to fix it. Basically when I first set up my FX5's I was using the polishing pads and totally ramming it with media... I found out that like this it was constantly sucking air and the flow rate was terrible!!

To fix it I took out the polishing pads and just filled each basket with ceramic... (the bottom basket has zeolite and carbon in a media bag)...
This has solved the problem... as what was happening is the cannoster was blocked with all the polishing pads in and becuase of this, sucking air in from the O-ring seal.

Thanx.
The filter has been working fine since then except...
Now I have tiny air bubbles all the time and I don't know how to get rid of them.
Any suggestions???

I find that the computerised system dosent work very well... so after priming I switch it on and off a few times (around 20-30 times...) then it expells out the last bit of air...
Also after its run for a while tighten the bolts more and they settle in with the pressure... that should solve the air problems.. :)

^ I never have to do that. The tiny air bubbles are usually caused by cavitation of the impeller. Mostly due to clogging of media.

Its not very easy for air to travel from the top of the cover, down to the impeller.
