FX5- Turn Down the flow?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
IF u have it wide open and the flow still seems slow your lines arnt right. i have a 240 and had to move my Fx5 to one side and shorten the lines. So its just up and down and now it Really fast :)

I have the intake and output both on the right side of the tank, along with the unit. Happy with the flow. But I would assume more hose length = less flow.

I want to run the intake and outlets on opposing sides of our new 8 footer and I was concerned about the hose length as well. According to the tech line at fluval the best thing to do is to plumb is long runs with PVC and then use short hoses from the manifold to the filter itself. Once we get the tank here and I start building the stand, canope, and filter system I'll post pictures of my progress.

I am kind of surprised that the Fluval tech didn't try to sell you some piping of longer length. Good to hear, looking forward to your pics.

The Stock Piping Sucks... Big time. It doesn't Bend well or "stretches" as they say in the video... and once u mount it, An it get a bent it stay that way for some time. My outlet head is sticking like 4inch away from the back glass cuz i moved the line around. I recommend replacing the stock piping.

With the Flow rate I'm getting i don't think i can add a UV. might add it on a Second Filter Line on the other side. But get a power head to push on the other side.
