i cleaned my filtrer and rinsed my media changed my sponges as usual but now my fx5 wont start at all ive emptied repacked rfilled and nada . can anyone help me out b4 i call fluval monday they are closed today.

clean the impeller, it is on the side....make sure u filled 2 gallons of water in it and its sealed tightly..good luck

does it sound like its even running? i drained mine through the smaller line on the bottom once and it wouldnt start i had to take the impeller off and clean it

the problem is its a fluval, aka, JUNK! for less than the cost of an fx5 you can build your own trickle. ten times better, more reliable, and maintinance takes all of 3-5 min, just change the filter floss. i reluctantly tried one out a few years back and now ALL my tanks have one, even my 33!

really, 3 posts under your belt, and their all bashing fluval. looks like someones holding a bit of a grudge, and is going to try and cast that onto others.

i like my fx5s alot!! to each their own i guess. i also like eheim and the rena xp series too for cans. all have good qualities about them.

exsqueeze me?

I have had no problem with my FX5, its going strong for almost 2 years now.

It also only takes me roughly 10mins to clean my FX5, and trickle filters suck at mechanical filtration, while the FX5 is Awesome at Mechanical and Good at Bio-filtration so really get the best of both worlds with an FX5...

I have NEVER had any problems with my FX5s! They have been running for almost 2 years problem free.People usually have problems with them because they dont know how to set them up properly and maintain them.COMMON SENSE.

This sounds like the problem i had with mine.. If you listen down by the motor/impeller does it just sound kind of like bubbles ???? If so you'll probably have to call Hagen. Mine did the same thing and i had to call Hagen and they sent me a whole new motor/impeller assembly.. Of course i had to answer a 100 questions on how i installed the filter but that was no biggie being i did it straight by the directions. Not sure what the problem was, i cleaned the whole thing just like it said in the manual and still nothing.. But now that i have the new motor it runs like a CHAMP once again..
