found out my fx5 was producing a very little flow coming out of the outtake hose.
i opened up the fx5 to find little pieces of rocks n took them out.
put everything back together turned it on..still the same thing and after a few min the fx5 turns on off in its own.
..dont know what went wrong there
fx5 was in use since feb2010..brand new
i need help!

i think the turning on and off is ok. i believe fx5 do that when they are opened, turns on and off to purge out any air bubbles.. not sure if im right or wrong.

It does turn itself on and off after every restart to clear the trapped air then does the same thing every 24hrs,what do you mean by little rocks and where were they and were they inside it when you bought it?
Have you taken the baskets out to see if its blocked near the impeler,eg with small rocks or sand?

Just comment off: I opened just now my 2262, and to get all air off the canister, i just leave opened the water entrance, and opened the water exit to get off all air off the filter.

In your case, i believe that have a protection for air, and it is used to get out the air after the maintenance.

valve is open all the way..i took out all the rocks that got sucked up inside..i even blew into the out take tube to blow out any more rocks..the fx5 is plugged in as of now and is off not running..

did you check the impeller? it might be damaged from sucking up the rocks

Double check each layer of your filtration material. Take out anything that might hinder the waterflow.

Check the impeller as well.

Triple check all of your valves, make sure they are all in the open position.

The FX5's are made to take 1-2 mintes to purge any air from the system, so when you plug it in it should make noise for <5 minutes and then turn on and run normally.

Hope this helps. Feel free to PM with further questions.

Are you using polishing pads?
