Thinking on buying one of these bad boys. Does anyone own one and would recommend buying it? Some helpful advice will be greatly appreciated

You can get one on ebay for under $200.00 and no shipping.

^^ ditto ebay sellers have about the lowest price. That being said don't expect any customer service from those sellers either.

Some of the vendors on here may be able to meet the ebay price if you ask around it the vendors section.

Mine has been going strong for two years.

i like fx5s for the mechanical filatration... but IMO i like eheims pro series the best for bio filtration

I'm a Fluval dealer and I pay more at wholesale for the FX5 than the ebay sellers sell them for, and they include shipping. They honestly cant be making more than a few dollars if that.

I use the FX5 on my tanks, and i think its an absolutely fantastic filter.

You could always put bio media in the FX5 such as bioballz

^^ mine is loaded to the hilt with ceramic media in every spot of each tray except for the center of the top tray which I use ac110 foams I cut to fit. For further mechanical filtration I just use a magnum H.O.B. as needed.

im just plannin to run 2 FX5, 1 ac110, and 1 emp 400 on my 300g think this will suffice on 1 aro and 5 golden sharks?

btw i plan to hook up my Coralife TT uv sterilizer to one of the FX5's...anyone got any pics of their customization?
