FX5motor/pump very noisy but still working??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
man...seems like we have the same problems....lol try this.... keep the valves open and unplug the fx5. let the water drain in and the bubbles drain out. plug it back in. that might work. fx5 is suppose to prime itslef but everynow and then it doesnt. always happens after a water change when i forget to shut off a valve. the water flow would still be the same but made noise. so i just unplugged and plugged it back in.... thats my experience... Kaiser its not the magnet thats worn its the bush and the shaft and the noise was obviously the impeler rattling about but its sorted with a new one and laosyfish, il try that the next time it sounds like air has gotten in.

Cheers steve

Impellars are only rated at about a year for lifespan. With regular cleanings they can go much farther than that. Obviously some last longer than others. It is a good thing you figured it out was the impellar soon rather than later. In time, a worn impellar will rotate off kilter and can damage the walls around it.

Thats true andrew,it was still pumping strong but i didnt want to risk it,best to pay out £40 than to lose a £1000 of fish eh
