Great advice guys. Another question. I added some matrix to the top chamber today and I noticed that my fluval circular sponge on the top basket was a little dirty, but the circular sponge I have on the bottom chamber was completely corroded and filthy with thick slime. I am a little confused. I thought the water flowed through the chambers from top to bottom then back into the tank. Why would my sponge on the bottom chamber be so much more dirty than the top chamber sponge. This almost makes me think the water is flowing from bottom to top.
