Hi yall. I've been looking at getting a new filter for my new 150 gallon tank and here's what I've come down to. I can get a new fx6 for $330 (with foam pads and crappy bio media) or I can get a used 2262 (with tons of substrat pro) for $350. I'm leaning towards the eheim, but I'm kinda scared of buying a used filter that is this expensive. What do yall think? New fx6 or old 2262?

I had a feelin most people would lean that way.

Starting to like the 2262 the more I find out about it. Anyone have a legit reason to go with the fluval?

My vote is the used Eheim, I've bought three used 2260/62 models and only one needed some parts due to damage.

I got a FX5 new as a gift and IMO it doesn't compare to the 2260/62 series filters. Too many parts, I don't like media baskets and don't care for the bottom mount pump.

I absolutely love my 2262. I bought mine new. It has ehfimech, ehfifix, siporax, and biohome in it. While $350 can sound like a bit much for a used filter, I can tell you it's significantly less than buying new.

Good to hear! Ya I know it's a great deal if it will actually run as long as a new filter (fingers crossed if I go that route).

I run 3 FX6 on various tanks including a 125 and 135 and am very happy with their performance. I dont have any experience with the Eheim. I have the fluvals full of matrix and clean them around once a month.
