Fx6 vs used 2262

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wanted to add before you bought but I see I'm too late.:(

Does the filter come with the quick disconnect fittings? I hope it does as buying them separately adds another $100 or so. There is always the option of making your own but it is a pain.

Yes it does. That was one of the first things I checked for. Thank you for your concern though. I'm soo excited!!!

Excellent!! Congrats on the new to you purchase. When you get it, be sure to post any other questions you might have on setting it up or problems. I found the Eheim directions for this filter model less than helpful, especially for a new user. We have all found various tricks on setting up the filter that make it easier to install and service.

I'd love to see the expression on your face when this giant filter shows up at your house!!!

I'm sure I'll be asking a lot more questions lol. All I know is that I can't wait to start putting it together!

If you plan on ordering from Swiss Tropicals, be aware he will be not shipping from 10/26 to 11/3.

It doesn't sound as if you are in a big rush to set the filter up so take your time. I like to double check a new purchase, regardless of whether it is brand new or used, for missing or broken parts AND I like to become familiar with all the pieces/parts prior to initial set up. I take everything apart that is meant to be taken apart and check for missing or damaged seals, parts, etc. The instructions should list all the parts or it is available online for comparison.

Used hoses rarely 'fit' different install needs but are often salvageable unless they are not still flexible. I still like to clean used filters with a mild bleach/water solution prior to my use. This does include any hard media such as the Substrat Pro, just rinse well with fresh water and soak it in a double treatment of Prime or similar conditioner.

Thanks for letting me know about Swiss. I'll go ahead and order the foam this weekend. Ya I'm in no hurry. I want this filter to be as efficient as possible. This is my first used filter so I'll be sure to follow all of the info you gave me.

Hey man these guys have you covered they helped me set up mine. I dont clean mine on a regular basis maybe every 4 months probably could go much longer. You mentioned in our other conversation that you had other filters, dont remember what they were but i wouldnt put the purigen in the 2262. The best thing about the 2262 is not having to open it too often so put the purigen in a hob for easy access to recharging. That stuff is great but doesnt last as long as they say it does between rechargings. I use it in a ac110.

Your gonna love the 2262...way better than the fx6. I sold my fx6 and couldnt be happier. Too much bypass with the media trays and no where near the flowrate of the 2262

I'll be sure to add the extra poret and matrix into one of my old aquaclears. I want to personally thank Frank and Deeda for all the help you guys have given me both on and off the thread. Yall are main reasons why I chose the eheim. Thanks to everyone for taking their time to help me make my decision. I'm going to start a new thread when the eheim arrives. Hopefully I'll see everyone on that thread sometime in the next two weeks.
