Fx6 won’t work

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
New or Used?

Well you could buy a replacement motor, and see if that gets it going.

I thought the filter was running just fine last week when you installed it, what happened?

I saw your other topic on unboxing and thought you mentioned unscrewing the pump so it's possible you somehow got the impeller assembly bound up if it's not on correctly.

Brand new.
It was and I don’t know. I’m going to take the box on the side off to see if I made something loose.

If I have to return it then I’ll say it’s defective since if it won’t start and it’s brand new then something must be. I’m just worried what to do since I cut the tubing to length and broke one of the hang on the side clips... Should I just buy new ones and put them in the box? It would be more respectful if I did.

Possible you couldve jammed up the impeller somehow or it could just be a faulty motor. Were you using any media that couldve escaped the baskets? Activated carbon in mesh bags for instance? It might be worth a try to take the motor off and clean out the impeller assembly.

I think I’m going to return the p.o.s. Since it is doing this.
Yes,that would be preferable to chopping the thing up with a hatchet and burning it!

I got it from amazon.com :/
If the thing is brand new then it shouldn't be Amazon's fault that it isn't working.

if you brought brand new mybe you can return it and say its defective?
Hopefully you can get a refund or an exchange.

I use hyperboles when I’m angry, I’m not going to destroy it and I’m not going to return it until I’ve tried every possible thing to try to get it to work.

Fluval made it, Amazon is the inbetween guy getting it from the manufacturer and selling it to the consumers. If this fx6 is truly beyond repair (not sure how to word it) then the blame is on Fluval, not Amazon, for making the filter.
I’m not writing the filter off yet since this is one of the best filters around and there are so many people who will vouch for the quality of them and I could have messed something up or got a bad one.

Yeah....sorry for your frustrations and all but some of your posts did have me laughing loudly so thanks for the morning chuckle. My FX5 was acting up yesterday....just out of nowhere it started making gurgling sounds and a spray of fine bubbles was coming out of the return.
