G. Carapo general care and tips

Ive read on aquariumglaser they get to around 30cm usually in aquariums but could grow twice that size. I trust their info more than most websites but im no expert by far (im only in the hobby for about a year)

Yeah I’ve basically figured it’ll likely grow to 11-12” or so, around 30 cm, but it’s technically possible for it to be larger. The tank it’s in can handle 11” considering it’s more eel-like in shape but if I need to upgrade that’s just an excuse to buy a bigger tank which I’ve already been looking at haha.

I feel ya haha, i bought the gymnotus in hopes it would co exist with my hujetas but it didnt work out..

got him his own tank now with some bleeding hearts, pimelodus pictus, l190 pleco and some guppys and its living its best life right now as apex predator of the tank, as it should.

Mine likes to hide in a hollow grape tree where i planted some plants in so it can sit inside the tree covered in plant roots, really gave him his safespace, now this will make it less visible sometimes depending on how well you cover it all up and he will defend his "cave" from the other fish but i know its happily chilling there till its feeding time or becoming dark

Can't tell subsp. reliably without collection/export info. Expect ~35cm regardless, though. Most probably won't get much larger anyhow.
