g tile on hunger strike

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Good news my G tile seems to be back to it's old self. It had 4 big pieces of krill last night. Just darted out of his cave and attacked them. The hunger strike lasted about 5 weeks with no ill effect. Crazy fish.

Just a quick update on my g tile it's doing really well. It is even taking pellets now. Any body else have a g tile that will take pellets.

Yes to the pellets! I had 4 G Tile at one point and two of them learned to swim up to the top of the tank and get them as soon as the other fish started eating. Only one never adapted to eating pellets.

Another favorite food was crayfish. I have a (poor quality) video on Youtube with my eels tearing into a crayfish. I think they like the diversity of pellets, shrimp (with the shells on) and live fish.

I too experienced fasting with G. Tile. I read that it was normal so never thought much of it. How are his colors though? I may be wrong but I believe one indicator of a health problem in G. Tile is the loss of color.

My g tile has been feeding on hikari cichlid pellets the sinking type. And hikari massivore it will not feed from the surface. And it has never lost it's color while on a hunger strike.

The Hikari carnivore sinking pellets are what the eels started eating, then I had the floating Hikari carnivore pellets that they learned to swim up and eat.
