Gallons vs Size

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Fair points, but I think in most cases fish need the footprint more than the height. It's also important but I think moving back and front is more important than up and down

Also main advantage of a sump is extra water, denitrification is almost non existent in FW systems and you can use other methods of filtration to support the same bioload of fish

For RD comment, are you saying because people don't bother to listen so it does not matter if advise is inaccurate?

I always give accurate advice. :) I also qualified my initial comment by starting off with "Good point". The reason most people use gallons, is because in the vast majority of these types of discussions the tanks sizes being stated are common standard sizes (55, 75,125 etc), just as the vast majority here use the term gallons (not imperial gallons), and not liters, or litres, or state the size of their tank in centimetres. That might also make more sense to some, but the reality is the majority rules.

Hopefully that helps answer your question as to "why".

I agree totally except for the standard sizes part since it is an international forum

Bro, I live in Canada (International), and have been a member of MFK for a few odd years now. What's common to the vast majority of members here, and what's common to you, or I, isn't the vast majorities problem. In North America, where the vast majority of MFK membership is made up from, these sizes are common sizes, just as the use of US gallons, is common.

There is no argument, these are the plain and simple facts. You asked why, I just explained why. Now you know. Feel better? :)
