Game Development Class

For both of my game development classes I am taking I have to create a small game for the final. So for one of them I am making a Feeding Frenzy like game but with freshwater fish. You will play as a Cichlid as it grows from egg to adult size. Not sure what CA Cichlid you are to play as yet, thinking either Flowerhorn, Midas, Convict, or a few others but not sure yet.

I will post updates for anyone who is curious to see it as it comes along.

I am interested but does it have to be a cichlid? Why not a gar, or wolf fish or something along those lines? True monsters that eat other fish.

Because its much easier to demonstrate its growth and progression than other fish. On top of that I have to draw each sprite for the fish which can be a chore with some fish. I can add gars as larger predator fish which would be easier.

Was originally going to do that but its growth looks more or less the same after its fry stage. Was thinking Flowerhorn or Midas mostly because their body shape changes substantially as it grows along with the growth of a kok/nuchal.

Gar would be an easy sprite to.make as would wolf. Most of your cichlids cant eat but the smallest fish without lookin odd.

True, haven't decided on the fish yet entirely. Post some prolific shots of any fish you think I should use.

Haven't gotten much done yet, just an early version of the first stage where you hatch the egg by mashing the space bar. Not sure if I want it to be in an aquarium setting or natural one, it will be entirely dependent on pics I can find as I am not doing those from scratch.

As it progresses more I will post a playable version for anyone who wants to see what I am doing.
