Gamers: What HDTV do you have? Jed! Help!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sony crumbled with the beta format because they wouldn't share tech info or let any one eles biuld it. Beta had beter sound and picture but no one else could us it so it went to the way side if you remeber that far back i do. My next question do you really think that sony can compete against Microsoft? come on lets get serious. If bill likes a gaming company he just buys it if he wants to change something he just does it Sony should stick to T.V's check out statistics try out both consols before you buy. The most important part for me so far is how the x-box works with my computer through media center letting me play my movies, songs, and picture on my big screen oh and i can down load movies, and tv shows from x-box live. Really check out the online aspects they make a huge diffrence in game play these days.

I don't remember that far back because I'm not that old  only 22.

I am going with XBOX because you're right, they excelled in keeping the online experience simple and fun.

I'm no fan boy though. As soon as it's cheap enough and has good games, I'll pick up a ps3. The wii... not really my taste.

OK I dunno how Xbox and the Gaming topic got dragged into this all of a sudden. I only mentioned a PS3 due to the fact it's a BluRay player. There is a separate thread on just PS3 vs Xbox360 vs Wii out there somewhere in the Lounge.

To be honest regarding Bluray vs HDDVD, Microsoft backs HDDVD but if you really think about it. MS wont lose much if Bluray wins. Alll they have to do is say "Oh well, so lets make external Bluray player attachments for the Xbox"

Transformers on HDDVD did nothing but piss off people. heck it even pissed off Michael Bay.

Anyhow, I agree that Sony's other projects failed due but I strongly believe this is something that will dominate. In the age were everything is digital and everything is counted by Gigabytes. It pretty much comes down to one thing....CAPACITY, and BluRay definitely has more of that than HD.

About Transformers. I'm sure a pissed off hacker that is a fan of bluray will one day make a free program that will rip HDDVD and you can burn it back onto a bluray disc. Too bad HDVD cant do the same. They will get the "NOT ENOUGH DISC SPACE" error.

As for the mount I was orginally thinking of wall mounting the LCD but I went to Walmart and they had some stands that had a metal mount for Flat screens. You screw it on and it's pretty much stuck there and easy to tilt. It scare me when it's not mounted and simply sitting on a stand. I feel it can easily be pushed over.

Here's an idea of what I'm talking about

I always thought wall mount was cool but I don't trust my walls and also where the heck would you put all the other stuff that connects to it????

my dad has a (I think) 46" Samsung 1080p and it has a great picture. Unfortunately he decided to go with name brands and bought a Bose system which is pretty much useless but at least it looks killer.

:chillpill: just felt like talking about games I guess  it's okay Jed, there's a shibby load left to be said about TV's

That stand is alright looking, since I want to use it as a monitor too, I'd have to go wireless mouse and keyboard (wow I must sound like a caveman on paper, ah well).

So not many people are stating what they've got? Preferably if your tv is in the 27 - 42" range.
