gange valves and powerheads

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ahhhhh... now I gotcha...

most Powerheads have suction cups to anchor them to a wall... Koralia powerheads (which I like) have a suction cup and a magnet combo to anchor them... very small powerheads can simply be set in place without anchoring (just be sure they are not sucking up sand if you use sand as substrate)...

Have you bought the powerhead yet? If so it should be apparent how to anchor it... naming the brand you bought or are considering will help other's give specific advice to the one you have or are considering...

I wouild not anchor it to the AC 70 HOB's intake though... instead I would shoot the stream of water toward the intake to help move waste/debris toward the filter...

ok now i think we are finally on the same page thank you! so i can just suction cup it to the tank glass. thats what i wanted to know
ok so which brand would you reccomend?

take a look at the Koralia powerheads. you usually see these in reef setups and look like little bullets. they are attached via a magnet on the outside. the best damn powerhead IMO. they are awesome and have great flow rates. plus, they dont shoot a concentrated stream of water like the other brands. they have very wide flow patterns that seem more natural to fish, other than just blowing them across the tank with a fire hose powerheard

ok i will look at those, are the rotating ones better?

those are nice too but ive read that they get stuck and go bad quickly and end up just being a stationary powerhead

what size tank is this for? i had two Koralia 1s on my planted 55g and they would create a nice current throughout the entire tank. the 1s is the smallest i would go. the Nano really are for tiny tanks (like >10g), even though they flow 240gph.
