These what will happened if you try to mix ganoid scaled fish such as bichirs and gars with sucker fish.

Well one of my buddy who doesn't keep bichirs and he's into Cichlids drop off some fish at my house for some feeders. I didn't know that he also drop off some plecos in there while I was out. My Mom doesn't have a clue too about fish so she added 3x 12" common plecos and a bunch of feeders cichlids in my bichir tank and these was the result when I came home.

The common plecos sucked on the slime coat of the bichirs and could have killed the bichir from stress and pain. What happened to the plecos I chopped them up and feed them to my electric eel.
This is why I keep saying to everyone that ganoid scaled fish and sucker fish don't go along fine together as the ganoid fish will suffer if the slime coat is being eaten. It's not the pleco that will kill the ganiod scaled fish, but the stress, pain or worst bacterial or fungal infection.

What am I going to do know with my spotted sailfin pleco when it gets bigger?

That's up to on what you're going to do with as it's your fish. You can sell it, donate it or kill it. Those are your options.

i dont think i agree with your methods here.... U cut up and killed your fishes.. a bit harsh????

It might be harsh, but he fed it to his other fish, he didn't waste it. It's not any different then feeding other fish to fish. Just a bigger, more 'valuable' feeder.

Thanks for sharing. I was wondering what those freaking white spots on my ornate were. Maybe my gigantic pleco is eating his slime? I could cut him up and feed the whole neighborhood.

Plecos are invasive here. I collected fish from a state park last year and the biologist asked me to "remove" any invasives we found. After killing over 500 plecos it gets easier.

Yo read the whole thing! The plecos were not my fish they were just drop off probably trying to get rid of them. Killing them and feeding them is a lot better than letting them live and kill you valued fish. What's so harsh about it when your valued fish was almost killed by a crappy common pleco.

LFS and irresponsible monster fish keepers who are lacking in knowlege of the fish they are getting, kills more fish than than responsible monster fish keeper.
