Gar ain't eating.

It's been 4 days now. It's a 4" Florida gar in a 15g by itself. When i first got it, it was eating guppies just fine. I ran out of guppies so i used goldfish. It attacked them but couldn't swallow so i changed to baby snakeheads which were about the size of the guppies it was eating earlier. Still no luck. Any suggestions?

baby snakeheads? wow....how much were they?
anyway, i would try freeze-dried shrimps, or pellets, and if they don't work then starve him for a week, and he'll eat anything.

The usual micropeltes babies. A bag of about 15-20 for $2. I've just put in an unidentified(for now) snakehead cos' i thought the tank was tooo bare. I've tried Hikari sinking pellets i used to feed my bichirs(killed by the gar). Won't eat either, might have to go and get some prawns, chop them up and hope for results. If not, i'll have to starve it.

Just tried putting in a piece of a bigass 6" earthworm i found by the side of the pavement. Ate it but didn't swallow. Fed the rest in millimeter-sized pieces to the micropeltes babies that are now in my 15g cos' the gar doesn't eat them.

Mine ate crickets and guppies as they fit in his small mouth.
He too killed some larger fish but could not swallow them.
Try some crickets.

Don't think the crickets will fit into his mouth. Will look for smaller ones at LFS though. Thanks a lot!

there is likely an issue with your water, test it and/or do a waterchange.
