Gar & algae eater?

I had a pleco that was doing the job but realized that the plecos and gars are bad news. So now I'm looking for a suitable algae eater to go in my gar tank. I'm also keeping some bichirs and a NGT dat. Any suggestions?

personally my gar has had no problems with my pleco or the rainbow shark which both do wonders for the algae

the thing is you only need one problem which would most likely result with a fatality
