given the species of arowana you intend to keep i would say that it is a no-go.

even if you own a "super mellow" jar, i'm sure you are no stranger to the fact that they are unpredictable fish that can and will kill even long-term tankmates .

i would have to agree; if it were the Osteoglossum species i would say go for it as it is worth a try if you are willing to take the risk. with Scleropages, however, (particularly that species) i would highly advise against it. jardini's are notorious for turning on tankmates, and will definitely bully gars...this is from firsthand experience as well as many other accounts i've been able to personally observe.

this is not a combo that is advisable if you want to keep the best interests of the gar in mind, although like so many other threads of this nature, it seems like people poll the members but still end up trying the combos 9/10 times. proceed at own risk--

I see what you are saying i personally have had the jardini with a silver and a peacock bass for quite a while now with no agression from the jar i mean i guess he could turn but it really doesnt seem likely to me maybe the gar is a bad idea and i most likely wont do it and just pick up some dats. thank you for the info .

no problem, and it is honestly nothing personal. in the gar forum the regulars prioritize the gar's well-being over other species, so you can expect to get more gar-centric advice. it is of course your own call and your own fishes in the end; best of luck with whatever you decide --

I own both FL gar and silver aros and they are fine together. You will just need a large tank as they both grow at a very rapid pace.

No problem. They are my top level fish with rays on the bottom and schooling fish at mid level. Just watch the jar if you go that route.
