Gar and Bichir and plecos

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i agree with madding. i had a chinese algae eater in with a senegal bichir and for the longest time it wasnt a problem until that "one day". spots where the slime coat was missing started appearing on the sene. and thats when i separated them. ive heard of certain combinations of sucker fish and bichirs living in harmony and thought i was one of those cases. dont have any experience with plecos and bichirs, though i personally wouldnt risk it.

In case everyone is wondering i got rid of my common pleco and added an ornate bichir. lol. Im going to chance the bristles because they are smaller than mu bichirs and i feel like the bichir could beat up the bristles if they wanted to.

Everything I have read says to avoid the plecos.......I did start out with one but he had an accident playing in the filter of my tank and he died. I have found that a lot of internet information steers people the wrong way and had missinformation when I started my tank, but supposedly plecos can be harmful to bichirs......
