Gar and Fire eels?

Hehehehe...that was my old thread!
Anyways, here is my experience since then; My fire eel hides pretty much all day and comes out at night, just about the time the gars settle down after getting fed. Initially I was a bit worried as the eel was a couple of inches smaller than the gars, but Ive saw no signs of aggressions either way. If I could speculate which would cause problems to whom, it would be the gars to the eel.
From what I read on MFK EELS Forum, Fire eels are very peaceful except from other spiny eels.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, as long as there isn't a HUGE GAP in size. Also, if you provide a hiding space, which they very much like, I am assuming it would be even more difficult for the gars to establish aggression, as the eel will rarely be seen.
Be warned though, as Fire Eels GET HUGE...FAST!
After 2 months, my 6" fire eel outgrew my 8-9" gar by 2".
Note: Not my tank...just trying to show size of eel, not tank compatibility

I have a 75g with 4 red tail barracudas (6") and i was wondering if a fire eel full grown would fit with these guys, and if they would get along.

Unfortunately, no...I think they need something like at least a 180 but 220+ is preferred. The MFK forum on eels have excellent information...your on the GARS forum.

I have a 14" longnose gar with a 2 1/2" leopard ctenopoma, and he hasn't even attempted to eat him.
They've been together since the ctenopoma was 1" and the gar was 13". I'm thinking they'll be alright.
Thanks Guys.. well my LFS got some very nice looking floridas in few weeks ago and I picked one up. I was tempted to get 2.. but I behaved!.. lol... he's doing really well now w/ my eels as he just was removed from QT this past week. I think he did bite one of my fire eels as I see a mark. but at 6" to their 20" ish ranges no seriouse dmg was done.. and I think it was within the first few hours of intro.. so my guess is the eel got to curiose for the gars liking. I do have a friend w/ a few gars already who offered to buy the gar off me for what I got him for if they don't work out. Hopefully it works out, he's cool to watch prowl the tank and has started coming up to me when I hand feed the eels. my fiance has already asked when we can get another one >.<!
