the other day when i went to my lfs i saw they had a gar, i was wondering if a 4 inch gar would be okay with 2 3 inch tiger oscars, 1 2 inch peacock bass, 1 5 inch clown knife, and 1 6 inch senegal birchir

Oscars might out compete the gar for food food, other than that I dont see an issue

when i kept oscars and gars together, the oscars always picked on the gar and nipped at him. There were alot bigger though

As much as I love the gar, I have a fee Oscars. I had a gar before huge alligator gar almost 2 feet, turned him to the LFS bc his nose was getting torn up in my tank. He was in a temporary 55 at the time. Anyone have problems with their nose and tank layout? I've been thinking about another gar maybe just not an alligator.

No it wouldnt. No oscar with gar or pbass.

You had a 2ft fish in a tank that was only 1ft wide and you wonder how his mouth got damaged? No more gars for you buddy!

I hear that gars are great fish to buy in CA if you like keeping illegal fishes.

Also, to answer your question, the gar would "hypothetically" be fine with the bichir and possibly the clown knife; the peacock bass and oscars are out, though.

Especially considering that he was in CA.

My gar is possibly the most chilled tankmate, among oscars,tilapia,Bala,arowana....,.,,,
I was really worried when I bought it, and the guy was like "yeah that'll be fine.." but having chucked it in with my fish the last thing it wants is a fight. Just has a little swim then lurks for a bit!
