I hear that gars are great fish to buy in CA if you like keeping illegal fishes.

Also, to answer your question, the gar would "hypothetically" be fine with the bichir and possibly the clown knife; the peacock bass and oscars are out, though.



Especially considering that he was in CA.

Theres only 5 types of gars. Spotted long nose short nose fl and gator all are illegal there. Unless ur talking about a needle nose which isnt a gar? Just curious

Actually there are 7 species of true gar, all of which are illeggal in California. The various false gars are legal though. With the asian needle nose, and pike characins usually being labelled as gars.

all true gar are illegal in CA, the fine can be up to $10000 per fish I believe!
