GAR-CON 2012 - FARM PICS Preview...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
-thanks for the comments and interest all; i took at TON of pics on this trip so it's taking a while to find the time to process them for posting. will get them up soon on various sites - will have a few on here, several overall trip pics on fbook and PFishes fbook page, more gar-related stuff on LEP.net, and then more highlight stuff on PFishes.com and my research site...hmmm, and i'm wondering why this is all taking so long...

as to the fish, this is one of the breeders of the "jaguar strain" TPG...the progeny, when the appropriate cross is made, really does produce a juvenile (and in some cases adults) that have this unique pattern. pretty crazy the variation they are working with on the farm!--

Soloman-
Great posts. Keep it coming.
That huge gar that guy shot... at least he got 225 lbs of fillets. I assume he will eat the meat. Shame to see the kill. I used to do that in my youth. However if it was like he said that she would have died we have some data now that some exist that big. Too bad that the small ones died.
I am seeing my alligator gars now teaming up to feed. They may be "pack hunting". Absolutely amazing. The alligator gars have also "have tamed up" to me and one of my sons. They know us now. Not afraid. But with other humans they spook. The spotteds and LNG not so much, although they are getting tamer. Fascinating animals.

Garry did a Great White Shark the other day while I was at the pond. From down below he went airborne with a 5" carp. Amazing. Garry will also come to check out everything we do in the pond. A curiosity for him. He then goes back to his normal of trying to find the warmest water.
