Nice... add these stats to the Garmy thread... you clearly will be the winner by a long shot!

haha, well it's probably somewhat of an unfair advantage with all the research work we are doing on them :)

i'll add the stats soon.

i've been going through and getting together a lot of my old images from back in the day and putting them into an archive (was copying some off other forums...such as ***********, where i posted a lot of my stuff before their stupid board politics caused problems)...here's a photo of the original Gar-den from way back in 2004:

nice sol! those were one of the few pics that inspired me some 2+++ years ago..:D

I love that tank shot. I can't wait until my gar are big like that.

Hopefully I will have a cuban by then

glad it could help facilitate more gar-keepers :)

i wish i still had a lot of those fishes too, i can't really remember exactly why i got rid of the darker phase gator (eventually went to Oddball/Phil), but that was a great fish and my first true gator gar -they were harder to come by back then-

for some reason i remember those gars being decent size, but i think the current specimens in the gar-den (at least the majority) may actually be larger...or maybe the tank got smaller with all the current vegetation...who knows, haha.

and yes, hopefully you have a Cuban sometime in the not-so-distant future--

thanks!

as for the other gars...that may be a while as there is work to be done with some of those fishes soon. i FINALLY got around to a water change on that tank and replacing lights as well, so it will hopefully be up to photographic standards in the near future. may at least snap some quick full-tank shots so you can get an idea of the size on the fishes...croc II is quite large as are the Cubans and the biggest female tropical.

will have to get some good shots of a (now) large FL gar i bought from John a couple years back too.

for now, mainly updating with GDI and lab photos :) --

haha thanks Phil, and good to see you are still lurking in the murky backwaters of the gar forum :)

we'll have to touch base again soon...richard and i actually road-tripped it with another colleague down to LA for a conference on gar management & ecology this past May...i should have contacted you beforehand to see if we could detour a bit and stop by.

may be headed there again in the not-so-distant future, so i will be in touch!--

haha, you may have better immediate records of my sold fishes than i do xander...any Cubans that were sold were sold at least a year or two ago...the large Cubans are still with me and reside in GDII.

as for the t-gar...i'll have to check back with the most recent one that would have been sold, but that would have been at least 1-2 years ago as well. t-gars also go through some major color and pattern changes as they age and also with maturity and spawning time...females seem to retain a bit more pattern when mature, but the males, during spawning mode go almost completely dark (we've seen this with our fish).

hopefully i can get some GDII pics sometime next week, but that would likely be the earliest :) --

Wow, that is a gorgeous shortnose! It's almost as gold as a cuban.
