what would be a good species of gar for a 180g tank along with black ghost knifefish, pictus cats, and bala sharks?

a good species for a 180g would be a Florida/spotted gar...HOWEVER, with that combination of tankmates a gar will not work...the gar will end up killing the bala sharks (they can't resist bright silvery fishes), would likely try to mess with the other fishes as well. of all those, the ghost knife may do ok if it is big enough, but other than that, i would skip the gar or get rid of the cats and sharks--

ok. im looking for tankmates for those fish, and i thought a gar would be nice..... although i know they are quite predatory. i was gonna go with apollo sharks, but i like to know my options.

roseline sharks are pretty cool tankmates with balas and would likely work with the cats if they are big enough...if you are looking for a primitive fish tankmate then you could go with an African arowana as they are less predatory and more peaceful--

hmmm. ive never heard of an african arowana. do they stay smaller than a silver arowana?

yeah i just looked up that article. also looks like they are hard to keep. any other suggestions?

so far the tank stock is going to look like

4 Bala Sharks
6 Pictus Cats
1 Black Ghost Knife
10 Apollo Sharks (or other replacement)

id keep bichirs but my bottom consists of 4 bala's and 6 pictus cats. so far it is quite busy bottom :p
